So NOT a doctor but is supposed to have a supervising physician. Clearly practicing unsupervised as she’s asking basic dermatology questions on Facebook. That’s just plain scary. Some dermatological conditions are life threatening and some derm treatments can cause permanent damage. I wouldn’t trust my health to someone without adequate training or supervision. “Nice” can get you killed or disfigured! No thanks!March 3, 2025
Anyone considering going to this practice needs to understand the following: She has asked this question on a facebook page: "How do I treat scarring from acne without lasers".. This is a very basic problem in dermatology and she is asking random people on facebook how to treat it. Perhaps your treatment will come from a recommendation from a random, unverified person on Facebook. Is that what you want? She advertises herself as a dermatologist, which implies a physician who has had 5 years of training at least, and has passed very difficult board certification exams. She has done none of this. She is a nurse who became a family nurse practitioner, qualifying her to treat simple conditions like colds and urinary tract infections with the help of a physician. You would be foolish to trust your care to such an ill trained and inexperienced person ___________________________________________________ I will respond to Ms. Lopez’s comments: 1) “I take patient care and safety very seriously, and I always work within the scope of my qualifications” Answer: if you were indeed serious, you would become a fully trained dermatologist. This would require 4 years of medical school, a year of general internal medicine residency, and 3 more years of specific dermatology training. And you would pass the 4 or five long exams (some over several days) required to become qualified, and certified as a safe and effective dermatologist. Your training as an FNP is in general outpatient medicine, such as colds, and UTIs. You had to pass one test of 135 questions, covering nursing theory and a variety of general medical questions. Nothing in depth about dermatology. Your ”extensive training” is a fraction of what physician dermatologists have. So, tell us, how many years of specific dermatology training do you have? And how many specific dermatology board exams have you passed? Most patients do not understand the profound difference between a real board certified dermatologist and what you do. That is not fair. You do not have to pass any specific dermatology tests, or get any training beyond standard FNP outpatient training to open a “dermatology” office. Physicians aren’t allowed to do that. 2) I think I can safely assume your supervising physician is NOT a dermatologist, otherwise you would be asking this person for guidance. You are not, so I have to assume the supervision is by someone who has little experience in dermatology. You can tell us who this is, by the way. I think you should. As well as the specialty of the physician. Yes, that is a challenge. You say you collaborate “closely”. Does that mean you run every treatment by this person? Is that person even in the office to examine the skin lesions also? I doubt it. Or does it mean that they review 10 charts every 3 months, as some do?March 3, 2025
Dr Lopez is kind, caring and good at diagnosis. She helped me with identifying the condition and prescribing the right medication while describing in detail the impact. She is available till late evening at the facility which helps with scheduling the appointments post work.February 19, 2025
